✍️ Not Sure What to Post?

If you've been creating content for a while, you've probably had those moments where you're staring at a blank screen, wondering what to post next.

Or maybe you're posting regularly, but it feels random and disconnected.

That's where content pillars come in.

Content pillars are the main themes or topics that form the foundation of your content strategy - helping you shape your public image, organise content effectively, and establish your authority in your niche.

Your content pillars should reflect what you want to be known for and what your audience wants to see from you.

Here's how you could structure yours:

1. Start with Your Mission

First things first, you need to know why you're creating content in the first place. This is your guiding star. For me, it's:

“I create content to make you smile, motivate, help, inspire & hopefully make your day better :)”

Ask yourself:

  • What do you want to be known for?

  • Who are you trying to reach?

2. Plot Your Content Pillars

Once you've got your mission, you can build your content pillars. These are the key themes that align with your mission and help you achieve your goals.

Here are a couple of mine (definitely not a definitive list):

  • Comedy and Entertainment: Light-hearted stuff that mixes humour with everyday life.

  • Personal and Behind-the-Scenes Content: Giving people a peek into my daily life.

My advice: When starting out -focus on 3-4 content pillars max.

3. Schedule and Label Your Content

Now, you need a strategy. Every piece of content should have a clear purpose. I label each post with:

  • Goal: Is it to reach new people, sell something, or nurture my existing audience?

  • Audience: Is it for new followers or my current ones?

  • Takeaway: Do I want to educate, inspire, entertain, or start a conversation?

This might sound like overkill, but trust me, it ensures every post is pushing you towards your bigger goals.

Now, I'm curious about you.

How's your content strategy looking? Are you using content pillars, or is this all new to you?

I've set up a quick poll below.

It'd be awesome if you could take a second to answer - it'll help me tailor future newsletters to what you guys need most.

How would you describe your current content strategy?
