Your A-Z guide to making 💰 on Instagram

So, you want to make some cash on Instagram?

Let's talk about it 👇️

Q: “How can I make money without creating my own products?”

The most popular method is affiliate marketing.

This is where you promote other people's stuff and get a cut of the sales. It's great if you've got a decent following and your audience trusts your recommendations.

Just remember: Only promote stuff you actually like. Your followers can smell BS from a mile away.

Don't forget to disclose your affiliate relationships transparently to maintain trust with your audience and comply with advertising guidelines.

Q: “I've seen influencers promoting brands. How does that work?”

Brands pay you to show off their products. It's the classic influencer move. But here's the thing - it only works if you've got a strong personal brand and good engagement.

My advice? Don't just chase the money. Look for long-term partnerships with brands you genuinely like.

Technical Tip: To attract high-quality sponsorships, ensure your engagement rate is strong (typically above 3-4%). Create a media kit that showcases your brand, audience demographics, and past successful collaborations if you have them.

Q: “I've noticed some creators getting gifts during live streams. What's that about?"

This is a cool one - during live streams, your followers can buy badges to support you.

It's a great way to monetise your live content and engage with your audience in real time. They come in three tiers: $0.99, $1.99, and $4.99.

To do this, you need at least 10,000 followers, be 18 or older, and be in an eligible country.

Pro tip: Promote your upcoming live streams in advance to boost attendance and potential badge purchases.

Q: "I've got some skills. Can I sell them on Instagram?"

If you’ve got writing or design skills then creating and selling things like Instagram carousel templates, Reel presets or how-to guides can be lucrative.

Tons of creators are looking to up their Instagram game, and your templates could be the solution.

You can price these anywhere from $5 to $50+ per template pack, depending on complexity and value.

To drum up interest, offer free samples and create themed packs for different niches or aesthetics. Keep your offerings fresh by updating regularly with new designs.

Q: "I've mastered Instagram. How can I help others and make money doing it?"

If you’ve put in the reps on Instagram, why not offer your expertise to others?

You could consult or manage Instagram accounts for businesses or other creators.

Offer services like strategy sessions, account audits, or content planning. Depending on your experience, you could charge anywhere from $100 to $500+ per hour.

Create service packages, like monthly management or one-time audits.

The key here is to showcase your own Instagram success as proof of your expertise. Use case studies and testimonials in your marketing to build credibility.

Q: "I'm not ready to teach. Is there a way to help manage other accounts?"

If you’re not ready to teach, then this could be for you…

Many businesses and influencers need help managing their Instagram accounts.

Offering your services as a virtual assistant specialising in Instagram management can be a steady source of income.

You could handle tasks like content creation, scheduling, engagement, and analytics.

Price your services either hourly ($15-$50+) or in packages.

Consider specialising in specific niches like fashion, fitness, or tech to stand out. To build trust with potential clients, offer trial periods or starter packages. Stay on top of the latest Instagram features and best practices to provide a 10/10 service.

Q: "What about using Instagram to grow on other platforms?"

My best advice:

Use Instagram as a funnel to drive your audience to platforms where you get paid directly for your content, like YouTube or Facebook.

Instagram is great for building an audience, but other platforms often have better monetisation options.

This way, you're not just relying on Instagram's monetisation features – you're building a cross-platform revenue stream. Plus, it gives your audience more ways to engage with your content. Just make sure you're providing value on all platforms to keep your followers engaged.

Now, here's the most important part:

Don't try to do all of this at once.

Seriously.

It's easy to fall into the trap of shiny object syndrome, jumping from one monetisation method to another without really mastering any of them.

Instead, here's what I've learned: Pick one or two methods that make sense for you and your audience, and focus on those.

Quality over quantity, always.

Catch you next time,

Jeremy

P.S. We had a ton of amazing submissions for the content review opportunity. If you missed a chance to throw your hat in the ring, don’t worry - we’ll open up submissions again next month!

I can’t wait to break down the first video this Thursday. Keep an eye out for that email 👀

Reminder: I’ve picked 4 videos at random from the submission pool. I can’t get to everyone but even if you haven’t been selected, you’ll still gain a ton of value from this!
