6 proven ways to make $ on TikTok (start today!)

Hey!

Let's talk cash.

Specifically, how much you can make on TikTok.

We’ve covered YouTube and Instagram, But I've been getting this question a lot, so let's break it down.👇

The TikTok Creator Rewards Program

The TikTok Creator Rewards Program, launched in February 2023, replaces the previous Creator Fund and offers significantly higher earning potential.

To be eligible to earn, you've got to:

  • Be 18 or older and reside in eligible countries

  • Have at least 10,000 followers

  • Have a minimum of 100,000 views in the last 30 days

Also, your videos must be original and longer than one minute.

If you check those boxes (awesome work), you’re in the game.

So how much can you expect to get paid?

You could be looking at $4 to $8 per 1,000 views.

That's a massive jump from the old rate of $0.20 to $0.40.

Some creators are pulling in $100 to $600 per million views.

The top 1%?

They're hitting $1,000+ per million.

It's not pocket change, but it's not quit-your-day-job money for most people either.

So, if you want to make real money, you've got to diversify.

Here are 6 additional income streams you could use to become a full-time creator:

Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is where you promote products or services and earn a commission when your viewers make a purchase through your unique link.

Commission rates can vary widely, from 1% to 50% or even more for digital products.

To get started, join affiliate programs relevant to your niche. Amazon Associates is popular, but also look for programs specific to your content area.

Get your unique affiliate links for products you want to promote and disclose your affiliate relationships clearly in your video and description.

You'll want to use link tracking to understand which videos and products are performing best.

Most affiliate programs offer built-in tracking, but you can also use link shorteners with analytics for more detailed data like Bitly.

Quick tip: Linktree can help you squeeze multiple affiliate links into that precious bio space.

To maximise your affiliate earnings, create dedicated review or comparison videos, include links in your video descriptions and pinned comments, use timestamps to direct viewers to specific product mentions, and consider creating a resource page on your website with all your recommendations.

The key to successful affiliate marketing is trust.

Only promote products you genuinely believe in and that add value to your audience.

Brand partnerships

This is where the big $ comes in.

If you're 18 or older, got 10,000 followers, 100,000 video likes in the last 28 days, and posted at least 3 times in the last month you can jump into the TikTok Creator Marketplace (TCM)

It's like a dating app for creators and brands.

  • TCM boosts your visibility to brands looking for paid collaborations

  • You get tools and resources to improve your content and business skills

  • TCM helps you negotiate fair pay directly with brands

But don't worry if you're not there yet.

Smaller creators are landing deals by reaching out directly or catching a brand's eye with great content.

My advice:

Create a media deck showcasing your channel's performance and audience demographics. Keeps you professional.

When negotiating deals outside of TCM, consider exclusivity clauses (will you be prevented from working with competitors?), usage rights (how and where can the brand use the content you create?), and payment terms (upfront payment, performance-based, or a combination?).

For the actual sponsored content, you have several options:

  • Dedicated videos (entire videos focused on the sponsor's product or service)

  • Integrated mentions (naturally incorporating the sponsor into your regular content)

  • Pre-roll or post-roll mentions (brief sponsor segments at the beginning or end of your video).

Don’t forget this:

The best sponsored content feels natural and adds value to your viewers.

Live streaming

TikTok LIVE Gifts let your viewers send you virtual gifts that convert to real cash.

You'll need 1,000 followers to get in on this, but it can add up fast if you've got an engaged audience.

TikTok Shop

For those of you with products to sell, TikTok Shop is your new best friend.

Set up an in-app store, tag products in your videos, and turn your content into a shopping channel.

You can host a live stream, showing off your products in real-time, answering questions, and interacting directly with potential customers.

You’ve basically got your own TV shopping channel, but way cooler and more interactive.

Plus, with the Creator Affiliate Program, you can connect with other creators for authentic product promotions.

It's seamless for your viewers and can be huge for your bank account.

And I’ve seen some pretty wild results to back this up:

The strategy I’d recommend:

Focus on relevant, humorous content rather than hard selling. Share knowledge, entertain, and build a community around your brand.

Bonus

E-books, courses, templates – if you've got knowledge, monetise it.

Use your TikTok to drive traffic to these offerings.

Platforms like Gumroad make it easy to host and sell your digital goods.

Lastly, if you've cracked the TikTok code, why not consult?

Offer account audits, strategy sessions, or workshops.

Your knowledge is valuable, and businesses are willing to pay for it.

Wrapping up

There's no one-size-fits-all answer to how much you can make.

It depends on your niche, your audience, and how you make the most of these opportunities.

The best approach?

Experiment, track your results, double down on what works for you and turn your views into cold, hard cash.

Now, before you go off to create your next viral hit, can I ask you for a favour? It'll take you 20 seconds, tops.

Think of that mate of yours. You know the one - always posting, grinding hard, but maybe not seeing the results they deserve.

Send them this link: Viral Academy Newsletter

Tell them, "You need to get on this. You're getting a mini-masterclass in content creation - in your pocket (all for free)"

Why am I asking this?

Simple. If you're finding these newsletters valuable (and I hope you are), why not do something nice for a friend? Help them level up their content game, absolutely free.

I want to help as many people as possible with these newsletters so I’ll keep making them for you and I would really appreciate it if you shared with even just one friend.

Until next time,

Jeremy
